Statewide Criminal SearchesRecord Contents:
Rules vary widely from jurisdiction to jurisdiction regarding record contents, so every state doesnt provide the exact same criminal records. For example, the Colorado statewide repository tracks all incidents (arrests and convictions) for which legible fingerprints were received by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. 29 states provide criminal information covering the entire state. The remaining states either do not have a statewide criminal data repository or have statutes/policies that restrict access to this information by any non-law enforcement agencies. Information in others states is obtained from a variety of public sources including physical searches of major courthouses.Information is usually available for the last seven years. The FCRA provides that criminal information older than seven years may not be used for the purposes of employment. Juvenile records are not available through Dataland. If you need criminal records for a state which does not have a statewide search, please contact customer service for a quote.
